SHOWING UP FOR MYSELF
I was working two jobs, grieving my mother, and supporting a son in incarceration when my coach told me, "You have to show up for yourself." So I did. I trained as a CNA, and my children became my practice patients as I studied for my state board exam, which I passed with a 97. Then my daughter was hospitalized for a month, on a ventilator and dialysis, fighting for her life. My faith carried us through, and I learned to utilize my resources. I needed to focus on what could go right and not on what was wrong. Today I am Director of Life Enrichment, and one day I will own my own care home. I'm no longer surviving. I'm thriving.
